On Saturday 14 December 2013, the Brazilian community in Willesden Junction received a visit from Brazil’s new Consul-General, the Ambassador Marian de Lujan Caputo Winkler, at ABRAS (The Brazilian Association), and also at the homes of the two members of AMBE (Support for Brazilian Women Abroad). The Ambassador was able to see the difficult situations some Brazilian women face when they arrive in the UK and find themselves in an extremely vulnerable position. Marta Fernandes, founder of AMBE, told us “Ambassador Maria de Lujam and undersecretary Khrisna’s initiative to really get to know our community is highly admirable. I believe that their visit to these Brazilian establishments, in Willesden Green Junction and the houses of two families, was an unforgettable experience.”
