Rise Up and Dance: Brazilian Freedom Songs (Tour)

2014 marks the 50th anniversary of the military coup which installed a dictatorship in Brazil. It would last 21 years. In that period, many Brazilians were killed or disappeared. Others  - among them, artists and writers – suffered violence, enprisonment, torture, persecution, exile and censorship.
Join Mônica and her band to experience some of the joyous, witty, moving, lyrical and incredibly beautiful songs that helped Brazil endure those oppressive times.
Lyrics translated by David H Treece, Kings College London
