Let us recap the structure and workings of the Brazilian Council for new readers and for those who have not read about it yet. In agreement with the statute, meetings (plenaries) are carried out every four months and are open to the public, in the Brazilian Consulate. I am inviting you to take part in the Council in order to help write a new chapter for Brazilians in London and show the greatest number of representatives that we have had so far in the UK; something which our government needs to see.
According to the Statute, there are administrative, communication and thematic committees. Article 14 states “ Thematic committees have a minimum number of three members (including the facilitator), there is not a maximum number of committee members ” The themes are; Women, Work and Employment, Governmental and Consular Relations, Education, Health, Human Rights, Environment, Art and Culture, Gender and Accommodation. The Statute also states there can be more committee, when and if they are proposed and deemed necessary. Showing that all Brazilians living in the UK can create new committees and integrate and participate in existing ones.
What is a facilitator?
What do they do? The facilitator is responsible for facilitating communication between members. Their job is to implement the committee’s decisions, organise meetings, elaborate items on the agenda and minutes, guard documents, receive and forward correspondence and generally coordinate the committee’s work.
And you as a member?
Members can participate by sharing their opinions, making suggestions, giving their viewpoint on matters and sharing their experience in order to benefit the community. Members have an active voice in all aspects of decision-making in all of the meetings held by the General Assembly Committee.
What do you need to do? Register for free at the Council (meetings, or applications will require personal information, a passport number and preferably, voter identification). The registration is carried out by the Administrative Committee or in any other Committee. If you register at a committee meeting, the Committee Facilitator should refer you to the Administration Committee. See their direct contact details here:

Moro em Londres há mais de seis anos e sempre quiz PARTICIPAR DE COMISSÕES PARA AMPARO E OU ACONSELHAMENTO DE BRASILEIROS. Fico satisfeita que tenha sido criado este Conselho Participativo e gostarei de atuar junto ao mesmo. Obrigada.
