Course Description
- The course will familiarise the teachers with pedagogical approaches and legal requirements in the UK as well as cover issues relevant to bilingualism and the learners of community/heritage languages.
Session Aims:
- To introduce teachers of Portuguese to the British educational system ;
- To ensure the teachers comply to local legal requirements, such as equality and children’s safeguarding;
- To familiarise the teachers with issues of bilingualism;
- To make the teachers aware of the needs of bilingual learners;
- To enable the teachers to plan language lessons across the curriculum;
- To support the development of materials for the teaching of Portuguese as a Heritage Language;
- To explore current approaches to teaching and learning;
- To explore different types of assessment;
- To provide teachers with the opportunity to visit British schools.
